Each morning of the event we will have breakfast, followed by a presentation addressing various issues that people making the transitions, either to retire, buy a home or rental property or to buy or start a business need to know.
-General Belize info, British Common Law based similar to the US. English speaking with Central American values and way of life (How this differs from North American lifestyle)
-Avoiding common pitfalls made by Americans and Canadians
-Impoverished Country (Ambergris Caye is not indicative of the mainland and country as a whole / average labor income, style of life).
-Discussion of the differences between areas and Villages
-Safety, Phones (international calling and local cell phones), Internet, Mail, personal bills, Credit cards
-Health Insurance, Hospitals and Health Care
-Banking, US account and BZ account (do I need a BZ banking account?)
-Offshore US dollar banking vs. local banking
-Financing options
-QRP vs. Residency vs. Work Permit options
-What to bring when you move / clothing, housing, how to ship & cost of shipping
-Buying and registering a golf cart or car, permitting is not mandatory, Insurance and registration of vehicles
-Bringing your pet / forms needed and how to bring larger animals
Lunch - on your own
Lunch is “on your own” either on or off property (Mangata Villas Resort will have several options available either poolside or at the bar). *Not included in seminar registration.
Afternoon Free
Each day, excursions are available at added expense: Scuba Diving, Snorkeling, a sunset cruise are just a few of the options available. If you are interested in specific tours, please let us know and we can have everything booked for you in advance. Mangata Villas Resort has a full list of excursions, including mainland excursions.
